Brake fluids for mountain bikes fall into one of two groups - 'conventional' products based on Glycol Ether technology and mineral based products using severely hydro refined mineral oils. The two types require brake systems of different designs and are not compatible. Each type of fluid tends to have its own devotees and a strong case can be made for using either. This tends to lead to manufacturers favouring one type or the other and designing their systems accordingly. If your present brake system uses one type of fluid it is not simply a matter of swapping to the other just to see what it's like. You will destroy the brake system.

You may think this is a bit confusing, but Stendec have introduced their own versions of each type - each especially engineered to represent the highest standards in its respective market. Each provides zero compression offering a 6% increase in braking performance plus a measurable improvement in eliminating fade. 250ml bottles.

Stendec DOT5.1 synthetic fluid
Based on Glycol Ether Ester technology for use in systems requiring such products and offers the following advantages:

Stendec Mineral fluid

A very advanced product based on hydro refined mineral oils for systems requiring this type of fluid. The product is ideally suited for use in hydraulic brake systems for the following reasons:

• Low compressibility allows efficient operation.
• Excellent thermal expansion properties - reduces 'pump up' more effectively than almost any other type.
• Excellent corrosion protection and stability.
• Non-hydroscopic - will not absorb water, which is the resulting problem of corrosion or boiling point decline.
• Does not strip paint.
• And believe it or not - slightly lighter than the synthetic fluid. Like you'll really notice!

Crystal Superglide
Silicone spray, 500ml

Pure silicone - very slippy and water repellent.
Eliminates dust wiper stiction.
Leaves long lasting protective and lubricating film on upper tubes - do not wipe off. Perfect for protecting all bike parts and will deter mud sticking to components for easier cleaning. Try it on your rims and the underside of your frame. Uncanny.
